How to Repair Power Seats

A luxury feature widespread in modern vehicles, power seats are convenient and safer than manually adjusting your seat while driving. Some power seats now come with features that allow the saving of personal seating perences so that each cars driver saves their individual seating perences. While power seats provide added safety and comfort, they are prone to malfunction because they are electrically driven. Note that power seats are harder to repair than mechanical seats.

Test all of the available buttons. Ensure you know what features work and what do not.

Check underneath the seat for any blockages. Caully check the seats riding rails as well. Use a flashlight to locate and remove any blockages

Ensure the seat is receiving power by disconnecting the power connector and use the multimeter to test the power cable. If it is not powered, check the fuse box to ensure a fuse has not blown. If you know how to remove the power cable, go ahead and replace it.

Check the motor if the seat is receiving power. You may have to disconnect the motor and test it separately. If it works, the issue is probably the seat. One of its switches may be gummed up or not be connecting properly. Disassemble and replace any broken switches if this is the case.
