How to Reset the Computer on a 1992 GMC Jimmy
Starting in the late 1970s, vehicles were equipped with on-board computers that were specific to each vehicle. This often meant a trip to the dealership service center for diagnosis and computer resets. The 1992 GMC Jimmy was no exception. A GM-specific computer scan tool must be used to read and clear codes as well as reset the computer. In 1996, the second phase of on-board diagnostics standardized the equipment needed to perform this task so most all repair stations could do this for every type of later model vehicle.
Instructions

Open the hood of your 1992 GMC Jimmy.
2Remove the black, negative battery terminal bolt from the batterys side post with an 8 mm box-end wrench turned counterclockwise.
3Detach the red, positive battery terminal bolt from the batterys side post with the wrench.
4Turn on the headlight switch inside the passenger cab to discharge any stored voltage in the capacitor. Wait five to 10 minutes.
5Reconnect the red, positive battery terminal bolt to the batterys side post first and tighten it with the wrench.
6Reattach the black, negative battery terminal bolt to the batterys side post and tighten it with the wrench.

Installing Fuel Injectors in a 1992 Pontiac Bonneville
The Pontiac Bonneville is a series of cars manufactured by the Pontiac division of General Motors since 1957. The 1992 model is the first of the eighth generation of the Pontiac Bonneville, and represents a major redesign over the previous generation. The standard engine in the 1992 Pontiac Bonneville was a six cylinder, 3.8 L engine with sequential fuel injection. You must remove the fuel rail to access the fuel injectors for this vehicle.

Disconnect the cable for the negative battery terminal with a socket wrench to avoid the accidental discharge of fuel. Open the filler cap on the fuel tank to relieve the pressure in the fuel tank.
2Remove the cap for the fuel pressure connection on the fuel rail and wrap a shop towel around the connection. Attach fuel pressure valve J 34730-1A to the fuel pressure connection. Place the open end of the pressure valves bleed hose into a container approved for gasoline open the valve to relieve the pressure in the fuel system. Disconnect the pressure valve and replace the cap for the fuel pressure connection.
3Disconnect the fuel lines for the fuel rail with a back-up wrench and discard the O-rings. Detach the fuel return line from the pressure regulator. Disconnect the wiring for the ignition coil and electrical connectors for the fuel injector. Remove the mounting bolts for the fuel rail with a socket wrench and disconnect the fuel rail assembly by pulling on both sides of the fuel rail with equal force.
4Cover the open fuel lines with masking tape to keep debris out of the fuel lines. Release the retaining clips for the fuel injector and discard them. Detach the fuel injector from the fuel rail. Discard all of the O-rings on the fuel injectors.
5Apply a thin layer of engine oil to the new O-rings. Install the O-rings onto the new fuel injectors and place the new retainer clip onto the fuel injector. Place the fuel injectors into the sockets on the fuel rail so the electrical connections on the fuel injectors face outwards. Lock the retainer clips for the fuel injectors.
6Install the fuel rail by performing steps 3 and 4 in reverse order. Fasten the cap for the fuel tank and connect the cable on the negative battery terminal with a socket wrench. Turn the ignition on for two seconds to pressurize the fuel system, then turn the ignition off for 10 seconds. Turn the ignition back on and check for fuel leaks.

According to Kelly Perry an automotive technician with ONB Automotive in Everette, Washington, the popularity of the Ford Tempo was largely due to its reasonable asking price. Sold from 1984 to1994, this mid-sized vehicle was a perfect fit for many consumers. "The Tempo was an economy car with a lower price tag and worked well for someone on a budget, as a first time car or even a commuter vehicle," said Perry.
Options
In 1992 the Ford Tempo had two engine options, the 2.3 HSC inline 4 cylinder and the 3.0 V6. Both took regular gas. The alignment specs are the same for both engine options. The Ford Tempo offered 2 transmissions types: the three-speed automatic or the five-speed manual with overdrive capabilities.
The 1992 Tempo came in either the two-door or four-door sedan styles.
Front Alignment Specifications
Front caster range is +1.69 - +3.19 degrees with a desired +2.44. Left camber range is +.66 - +2.16 degrees with a desired of 1.41. Right camber range is +.22 - +1.72 degrees with a desired of +.97. Toe out is .100" of an inch.
Rear Alignment Specifications
Left and right side camber range is -.91 - +.59 with a desired of -.16. Toe setting is 0" of an inch. There is no caster adjustment on the rear.

How do I Remove 1992 Ciera Power Steering Pump

Did your 1992 Ciera just transform itself from a power steering-equipped land yacht to a battleship with manual steering? Time to remove the power steering pump and get a new one. Most backyard mechanics will have an easy time with this repair. Dont be shy about taking the alternator out first if you have big hands that struggle in small places. The more room you have to work, the easier this job will be.
Instructions
Preparation

Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery with a socket wrench.
2Pull the hoses off the steering pump. Tape the openings on the hoses and pump shut with tape to prevent dirt or other contaminants from getting into the power steering fluid. Put the hoses in a position where they are as high as possible to prevent fluid draining out.
3Loosen the alternator adjustment bolt with the socket wrench to create slack in the drive belt. Remove the belt by hand. This repair is much easier if you completely remove the alternator at this stage to create more room around the power steering pump.
4On 4-cylinder engines, remove the radiator hose clamp bolt just in front of the steering pump using a socket wrench. Remove the right engine splash shield after undoing the clips and screws that hold it in place.
On 6-cylinder models, you must remove the alternator before proceeding. Remove the upper alternator bracket and alternator pivot bolt with the socket wrench to remove the alternator.
Pump Removal

Loosen and remove the power steering pump retaining bolts with the socket wrench.
6Loosen and remove any braces on the power steering pump with the socket wrench. Remove the power steering pump.
7Remove the pump pulley from the pump. Keep the pulley to attach to the power steering pump you plan to install. At this stage you can choose to rebuild your existing pump or buy a new one.

How to Replace an Alternator in a 1992 SC400

The alternator is the part of the car the keeps your battery charged. Without an alternator, your battery would quickly lose its charge, rendering your car useless. If your battery is no longer holding a charge and you need a jump every time you start your car, it is time to change your alternator. Replacing an alternator is a relatively simple procedure that will save you some money if you choose to do it yourself. Replacing the alternator on your 1992 SC400 Lexus is a straightforward process that you can perform at home.
Instructions

Park your car on a level surface and pop open the hood. Disconnect the batterys negative terminal before you begin to work on the alternator.
2Loosen and remove the two mounting bolts that hold the alternator in place. Rotate the alternator toward the v-belt to create enough slack to remove it. Remove the v-belt and check it for wear. If it has considerable wear, now would be a good time to replace it.
3Remove the electrical wires connected to the back of the alternator and mark the alternator with a pen or marker to map exactly where each wire needs to be re-connected on the new alternator.
4Remove the alternator and compare it to your new alternator verify that everything is the same. Replace the new alternator in the reverse order that you took the old one out. Check the belt tension, when replacing the v-belt on the alternator. A little under an inch of deflection is what youre looking for---it is always better to have a slightly loose belt than a belt that is too tight.
5Take your car for a test drive of at least 15 miles, and then allow it to rest. Check it a few hours later or the next day to make sure your battery is now holding a charge and you no longer need to jump start your car.

Where Is the OBD2 Port on a 1992 Ford Bronco XLT
Ford equipped the 1992 Bronco XLT with a 4.9-liter V-6 engine bolted to a five-speed manual transmission as standard equipment. A four-speed automatic transmission was an option, along with the choice of a 5.0-liter or a 5.8-liter V-8 engine. Use a hand-held scan tool such as Fords Self-Test Automatic Readout tester or an equivalent on your Bronco XLT to access the on-board diagnostics.
Data Link Connector
OBD2 came about in 1996 because of the Environmental Protection Agencys Clean Air Act. Prior to that, the on-board diagnostic system was not standardized and each manufacturer had its own system of diagnostics accessed through a data link connector mounted somewhere on the vehicle. Access the OBD system on your 1992 Bronco through the DLC located in the engine compartment. The DLC is mounted on the driver-side wheelwell on the front side of the shock tower.

How to Reset the Computer on a 1992 Cadillac
You can reset the computer on your 1992 Cadillac right from your home garage, saving yourself time and money. The Cadillac comes equipped with an on-board diagnostics (OBD) computer that receives and stores trouble codes sent from various sensors positioned throughout the vehicle. It alerts you to any malfunctions or servicing needs by illuminating a warning or service light on the instrument panel. After you have read the codes and had the vehicle repaired or serviced, you or your mechanic must reset the computer to ensure that it continues to function properly.
Instructions

Locate the rectangular fuse panel cover on the lower part of the driver side of the dashboard. Pull down on it with your fingers to open it.
2Insert the key into the ignition, and turn it to the "On" position. Dont crank the engine.
3Find the port inside the fuse panel that has the exact same size and shape as the connector end of the OBD scanner. Plug the OBD scanner into this port. Dont force it in; rotate the scanner until it fits into the port.
4Wait for the OBD scanner to read the codes. Find the command on the scanner that reads "Delete Codes" or a similar command. Select this command to clear the codes and reset the computer. When the scanner has returned to the main menu, unplug the scanner and close up the fuse panel cover. Turn off the vehicle.
5Turn on the engine and verify that the warning and service lights are off, indicating that you have reset the computer and cleared the codes.
