How to Get a Key Made for a BMW Without a Title

How to Get a Key Made for a BMW Without a Title

You lose your car keys on occasion. Almost everyone has done it, or will do it at some point in his life. Most of the time, your keys are found before too long and you get to carry on with your plans. If you find yourself in a situation where you simply cannot find the keys to your BMW, youll have to call your local dealership and have a new key made. You can get a new key for your BMW without the title, but you will need some other form of proof that the car belongs to you.

Instructions

    1

Determine the year of your BMW. If its an older model, made before the new millennium, you can call any locksmith to request a key for your car since the car has no computer system. If your car is a later model, youll need to contact your local BMW dealership.

    2

Inform the locksmith or BMW dealership that youve lost the keys to your car and need to replace them. Provide them with some sort of documentation proving your ownership. Ideally, your vehicle title is the best proof of ownership, but if you cannot find your title, you can use your registration or insurance card.

    3

Wait while a new key is made for your car, and pay the locksmith or dealership for their service and for your new key.
