How to Adjust a Mustang Emergency Brake
Adjust the emergency brake on your Mustang right from your home garage and save money. You can adjust it from inside the car so you dont have to get yourself dirty by working under the car. Is time to adjust the parking brake when you park downhill and the parking brake starts to slip. This means that the parking brake cable has slackened inside the cable rod and needs to be tightened with the adjuster nut. Tension put on the emergency brake over time causes the parking brake to slip.
Instructions

Locate the parking brake in the front center of the inside of the vehicle. Remove the console cover that houses it.
2Lift up the emergency brake lever four notches.
3Look for the parking brake cable rod. On this rod is an adjuster nut. Turn that nut with the pliers until it is loose but make sure it doesnt fall off all the way.
4Release the parking brake and tighten the nut.
5Raise and lower the emergency brake lever four times. This will set the adjustment of the parking brake.
6Park the Mustang on a downhill slant and engage the parking brake only. It should hold the vehicle in place. If it doesnt, repeat the adjustment.

How to Pull a Code on a 1993 Mustang
You can pull a trouble code from your 93 Ford Mustang right from your home garage using an OBD I code reader. The Mustang comes equipped with an on-board diagnostics computer that receives and stores trouble codes sent to it from various sensors positioned throughout the vehicle. When one of these sensors detects a malfunction, it sends an alphanumeric code to the computer. The computer, in turn, will illuminate a warning or service light on the instrument panel to alert you. You can purchase an OBD I code reader from any auto parts retailer.

Locate the diagnostic port on the drivers side dash under the steering column. It is the same size and shape as the connector on the code reader. Plug the code reader into this port. Rotate it a bit to make it fit if necessary.
2Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the "on" position but dont crank the engine. This should power on most code readers. If not, locate the "on/off" switch on the code reader and turn it "on."
3Wait while the OBD I code reader retrieves all the trouble codes. Write them down on a piece of paper and look up their meanings in the code readers manual.
4Turn off the code reader, if necessary, and unplug the reader from the port. Turn off the vehicle.

How to Remove a Converter That Makes a 1996 Mustang GT Start Smoking
Catalytic converters are a legally-required part of the exhaust system of every gasoline-burning vehicle in the United States. These systems clean the leftover fuel that comes through the cars exhaust and makes it less damaging to the atmosphere before it is released. When the converter malfunctions, however, it can cause your car to smoke or your check engine light to illuminate. The catalytic converter system in your Mustang GT is near the center of the car, between the engine and the mufflers. The 1996 Mustang GT has dual exhaust pipes which are routed from the muffler to the rear of the car on either side.

Use a jack to raise the rear of your Mustang off the ground and secure it with jack stands. Do not attempt to repair or remove any part of the exhaust system unless you are certain the car has not been running. This system gets very hot when the engine is fired.
2Use plastic ties or heavy duty wire to secure the exhaust pipes to the Mustangs frame. Once the catalytic converter is removed, these pipes may fall if not secured.
3Locate the Mustangs O2 sensors. There will be one in front of the catalytic converter and one behind in Mustangs manufactured after 1995. You should only have to remove the one in front. Use an O2 sensor wrench to loosen the sensor and its connecting pipe, then remove them with your hand.
4Use a socket set to remove the bolts in the front and rear of the catalytic converter. Sometimes this is difficult to do. If they seem frozen into place, spray a rust-breaking automotive lubricant on the bolts and allow to sit for one hour.
5Tap the catalytic converter with a hammer, keeping one hand on the unit. If it seems to move easily, pull it out of the muffler pipe and remove it. If it does not move easily, rap it several times with the hammer until you can remove it with your hand.
