Disconnect the electrical connector for the fuel sending unit, and remove the mounting nuts for the fuel sending unit. Disconnect the fuel sending unit from the fuel pump.

Attach the fuel sending unit to the new fuel pump, and fasten the mounting nuts for the fuel sending unit with a socket wrench. Connect the electrical connector for the fuel sending unit, and place a new gasket on the fuel tank. Install the fuel pump assembly into the fuel tank, and fasten the mounting screws for the fuel pump assembly. Attach the fuel lines to the fuel pump assembly.

Replace the access cover, and fasten the mounting screws for the access cover with a socket wrench. Connect the electrical connector for the fuel pump assembly, and replace the rear seat cushion. Connect the cable for the negative battery terminal, and start the engine. Check the fuel system for leaks.

Disconnect the upper idler pulley with a socket wrench and mark the direction of rotation on the timing belt so that you can install it correctly later. Remove the timing belt and the tensioner for the timing belt.

Disconnect the mounting bolts for the water pump with a socket wrench. Remove the water pump from the engine block and discard the gasket for the water pump. Clean the mating surfaces for the gasket with a clean shop towel. Coat the new gasket with sealer and place it into position. Install the new water pump onto the engine and tighten the mounting bolts to between 14 and 19 ft.-lbs. with a torque wrench.

Complete the water pump installation by performing steps 2 through 7 in reverse order. Fill the radiator with coolant and connect the air cleaner assembly with a socket wrench. Attach the cable to the negative battery terminal.

Place the open end of the bleed hose on the pressure gauge into a gasoline container. Open the pressure gauge to relieve the pressure in the fuel system. Disconnect the pressure gauge from the pressure relief valve.

Disconnect the cable from the batterys negative terminal to prevent accidental sparking. Siphon as much fuel as possible with a hose from the fuel tank into a gasoline container. Raise the vehicle with a jack and mount it on jack stands. Remove the mounting bolts for the skid plate with a socket wrench and remove the skid plate.

Detach the fuel lines from the fuel tank and disconnect the electrical connections to the fuel pump. Support the fuel tank with a floor jack and remove the mounting bolts for the fuel tank straps with a socket wrench. Disconnect the fuel tank straps without deforming the fuel tank. Detach the fuel tank and lower it from the vehicle with a floor jack.

Clean the fuel tank around the fuel pump with a shop towel to prevent contamination of the fuel when you remove the fuel pump assembly. Turn the locking retainer ring for the fuel pump assembly with a socket wrench and locking ring adapter. Remove the locking retainer ring and pull the fuel pump assembly from the fuel tank without damaging the float arm or fuel filter. Discard the mounting gasket for the fuel pump assembly and clean the mounting surface for the fuel pump assembly.

Install the new fuel pump and mounting gasket by performing Steps 2 through 4 in reverse. Tighten the locking ring for the fuel pump assembly by turning it clockwise until it locks into place. Fill the tank with gasoline and check the fuel system for leaks.

Replacing the battery in a 2005 Mazda Tribute is a fairly standardized procedure. However, it may be helpful to use a computer memory saver device on vehicles made after the 2000 model year. Remove the nuts on the battery hold-down bracket located at the top of the Tributes battery by using the ratchet and a socket.

Loosen the negative terminal clamp with the ratchet and a socket. The negative battery terminal clamp has a black wire running to the clamp and either the letters "NEG" or a minus sign stamped on the battery housing near the clamp. Use the channel locks on the terminal clamp once its loosened to wiggle the clamp back and forth and remove the clamp from the battery post. Repeat the procedure for the red-wire positive terminal clamp.

Hoist the battery out of the engine compartment.

Clean the battery terminals with the battery terminal cleaner and wire honing brush to remove any corrosion on the clamps.

Insert the replacement battery into the tray. Align the posts with the appropriate side and clamp (negative post to negative cable and cl positive post to positive cable and clamp).

Connect the red-wire positive terminal clamp to the positive battery post first. Tighten the clamp with the ratchet and a socket. Repeat for the negative battery terminal clamp and post.

Spray the battery terminal clamps and post tops with battery corrosion protection solution.

Remove all tools from the engine compartment. Close the hood.

Unplug the computer memory saver from the power outlet. Disconnect the 9-volt battery from the memory saver (if applicable).

Classified as a luxury car, the Mazda Millenia offered a number of radio choices. Some models came equipped with a cassette player, while others had a single- or multiple-disc CD player. Open the hood and use and adjustable wrench to disconnect the negative battery cable.

Use a small screwdriver to carefully remove the four small rubber hole covers from the sides of the radio.

Insert the Mazda radio hook tools into the holes along the sides of the radio to release the inner spring clips. Push the tools in firmly until you hear a "click." Maintain pressure on the side tools and carefully pull the radio straight out of the dash.

Disconnect the antenna and wiring harness from the back of the radio. Push on the springs on the sides of the radio to remove the radio hook tools.

Installation

Attach the wiring harness to the new radio. If you are replacing the radio with a Mazda factory model, you can reuse the existing wiring harness and antenna connection. If you are installing an aftermarket radio, you may need a Mazda radio installation kit. In that case, follow the instructions with the kit.

Connect the wiring harness and antenna cable to the back of a new factory radio. Slide the radio into the dash. You should feel the clips engage the radio. Replace the four rubber hole covers.

Follow the directions supplied with the kit if you are installing an aftermarket radio.

Reconnect the negative battery cable and test the radio.

Enter an anti-theft code if you have installed a factory radio. Consult your owners manual for the code, or contact a Mazda dealer

Locate the fuse panel cover under the steering wheel and open it by pulling down on it with your fingers.

Find the Engine Control Unit (ECU) fuse in the panel. You can find this by examining the fuse diagram that is located on the under part of the fuse panel cover.

Locate the fuse pullers within the fuse panel. Use the fuse pullers to remove the ECU.

Put the key into the ignition and turn it to the "on" position, taking care not to start the engine. Wait for three minutes. Shut off the ignition.

Put the ECU fuse back in place and turn the engine on. Check to make sure all warning lights have turned off. Put the fuse pullers and fuse panel cover back in place.
